Shawn Schlegel, the founder and current Designated Broker of Schlegel Real Estate, established his firm in 2008 and has successfully brokered around 500 closed transactions. Appointed to the Arizona Association of REALTORS® Board of Directors in 2018, he takes pride in this affiliation, upholding their strict Code of Ethics in his daily practice. Since starting his journey in Arizona real estate in 2003, Shawn has been involved in every aspect of the industry, particularly in sought-after areas like Arcadia and Biltmore.
Before launching his own real estate firm, Shawn worked with various brokerages in the Phoenix area, consistently ranking as a top producer. His decision to establish Schlegel Real Estate with a team of realtors allowed the new brand to leverage his extensive real estate expertise and strong communications background. In addition to founding the realty business, Shawn purchased and published a well-established newspaper, The Communicator, in Maricopa. The paper garnered several statewide community service and journalistic excellence awards during his five-year tenure as publisher. Shawn’s degree in communications from the University of Kansas has been invaluable in both journalism and real estate.
As a realtor and businessman, he is decisive, collaborative, and driven. He focuses on understanding the needs of his real estate buyers and sellers, seeking effective ways to help them find homes they love in areas like Scottsdale or navigate selling their properties. "I am invested in every house I sell. I review every property to evaluate whether it’s right for the buyer. Finding homes that provide equity and a vested interest for my clients is very important to me," Shawn explains.
Shawn Schlegel's early exposure to property management comes from his father, who enjoyed buying and managing apartment properties. As a youth, Shawn would fix and paint apartments between tenant moves. When it came time to renovate their new home near Camelback Mountain with his then-fiancé, MacKenzie, Shawn eagerly took on the rehabbing of their 1955-built Camelback Road property, designing and overseeing much of the work himself.
They were on the engagement “fast track,” Shawn recalls. Once engaged, they purchased their house, married in Maui in May 2016, remodeled their home, and welcomed their baby, Zoey, all while moving into their creatively updated residence by February 2018. Shawn's life has transformed dramatically in just under two years, as he, MacKenzie, their daughter Zoey, and son Hudson now enjoy living in their beautifully renovated home.
